Peter Do‘s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, aptly titled “Grounded,” marks a significant evolution in his design narrative. It seamlessly blends artisanal heritage with contemporary tailoring. Presented at Paris Fashion Week within the Musée Guimet, the collection reflects Do’s commitment to thoughtful design and cultural resonance.
A notable collaboration with Philip Huang infuses the collection with traditional Thai indigo dyeing techniques, introducing a palette rich in organic hues. This partnership underscores Do’s dedication to sustainability and cultural preservation, merging indigenous craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.
The collection deconstructs conventional summer tailoring through featherweight wool, silk, and chiffon textiles, offering a fresh perspective on warm-weather attire. Do’s signature minimalism is evident in oversized blazers, bias-cut silk dresses, and reinterpretations of traditional Vietnamese garments, such as long poplin pleated shirt dresses paired with tailored trousers.
Innovative fabric developments mimic the texture of crushed paper, while floral motifs, sourced from Do’s sketches, are delicately rendered on sheer Italian jersey. Asymmetric shirts, designed with adjustable ties, provide versatility, allowing wearers to customize their fit—an embodiment of Do’s emphasis on functionality and personal expression.
The collection also features garment-dyed “Vietnam” t-shirts inspired by vintage souvenirs, alongside upcycled t-shirts and hand-ripped jeans from previous seasons, reinforcing Do’s commitment to sustainability and the cyclical nature of fashion.
